Problem and Solution

First of all, great job for working on your Sequence papers. I have received numerous papers turned in thru Dojo, e-mail and Google Voice. To make things easier, we're going back to Google Classroom. Many of you have already used it in my class in the previous trimester when you submitted your very creative short fiction stories for our NaNoWriMo project.

Since the papers being turned in are in picture format, I didn't really mind how you're turning it in as long as you finished your papers and turned them in. The small issue with that is -- we needed to have a one-stop platform for all the assignments so that all the students are turning in their papers in one place, even with different classes.

Zoom Class and Philippines Google Tour

Thank you to everyone who attended the Zoom Class today!
It was great seeing most of my kiddos from school again. I sure do miss them.

We'll try to have another one when I finish making a tutorial on the Problem and Solution outline and 3.8paragraph. I'm going to shoot for Monday evening for that post. Probably Zoom earlier? I'm actually wondering if 10AM would be too early to Zoom or not. I really would like to have it earlier than right after lunch.

Let's take a short break and I just want to share about my country and where I am from. This video will be a Google Earth video and some commentary. I used my phone so it's a little wiggly.

Sequence One Pager

Once you're done with your outline and your draft.

Please use the website www.gingersoftware.com/grammarcheck and type in 1-2 sentences at a time to make sure that your spelling and common punctuations are correct. If you need to re-write your paragraph on a lined sheet of paper, please do so before going to the next step which is the One Pager.

It is imperative that you have spell checked and grammar checked before putting anything on your One Pager.

Sequence Single Paragraph Outline

Online teaching has always been my thing. I have never actually taken a video of myself t because videos are forever. >_< Of course, when I was teaching online ('09 to '16), we always have the camera on but it was never recorded. Okay, maybe there were 5 months of recording because I was at a Korean school, my Japanese school did not record videos.

All my students know that I am a very visual person and so I always need to show how something is done or I would not exactly be able to explain it. So, jumping out of my comfort zone, here's the first video:

Please be kind. It is my first video where I'm doing a lecture.

The Best Pencil Sharpener!

"May I borrow a pencil?"

The one question that a teacher in a middle school will hear every day for the rest of their career. When the kids are not breaking pencils in half -- they never want to use a dull pencil. Really, who would?

I have searched for the best pencil sharpener since the beginning of this chosen path of mine. I tried the electric sharpener which gets clogged and just breaks (in the middle of the year too!). Most of the electric sharpeners cost around $45 and above. It is not cheap at all, especially on a teacher's paycheck.

Awakening the restless thrift shopper in me, I decided to try buying an electric sharpener at Bargain Hunt. I was so excited that I got it for a lower price -- I came home and it wouldn't work. Keeping the receipt with me, I went back to return it. The employee then showed me how it does work! What? So, I gave it one more try. Murphy, my friend decided that his law will hinder my tiny sliver of joy. It just won't work.

Google has shown me the results of "the best sharpener" ever and I have been leery. I finally clicked on it and ta-dah! I was taken into a time travel ride as the website showed me a school pencil sharpener from my childhood! These things have been in schools since I was a kid, all the way through my high school years. For sure, I knew it worked and they sharpen well. A little hesitantly, I gave it a try. Here's my review:
